Inviting A Plurality of Thought
2 min
As July turns into August and we approach the end of many Pride events held this summer—fun fact, the UK hosted its last summer pride event in Stockport on the 30th of July—we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the LGBTQ+ community and allies for their unwavering courage and resilience. At a time when rights are being called into question at an unprecedented speed, LGBTQ+ voices and stories have sparked meaningful conversations, challenged norms, and inspired change around the globe. Despite these turbulent times, we will continue to take great strides toward creating a more inclusive society.
We loved this piece by Neol Creative Leader, Spectra Adaora Ijeoma Asala, with an awareness reminder of the plurality of identities: “Multi-hyphenated venture builders, investors, operators, etc., despite overperforming, experience the greatest friction in systems that continue to insist—despite all evidence to the contrary—that we can plot a path to shared liberation via completely separate and isolated islands of resources.”
In our own organizations and professional networks, we have witnessed the power of fostering a culture that values authenticity and empowers individuals. By embracing diverse perspectives and celebrating unique identities, we unlock boundless opportunities for growth, innovation, and creativity. For far too long, LGBTQ+ people have been left out of the conversation, and part of asking the right questions starts with inviting a plurality of thought.
Moving forward, let's actively seek out opportunities to learn, listen, and engage in conversations that challenge our assumptions. Our commitment to inclusivity does not end with the conclusion of Pride Month events. It is a year-round endeavor and one that we are deeply passionate about.
We must continue supporting each other. We must amplify marginalized voices—in all aspects of our lives.
